  • Music director

Careen Stanley is a PK (pastor’s kid) from California. She grew up singing in church – her family traveled and sang for revivals, church services, associational meetings, weddings and choir sings all over San Diego County. She began directing ensembles while still in high school, and directed her first choir as a college senior. She graduated from the University of California at San Diego in 1991 with a B.A. in Music and took her first Music Director position at a church that same year. She served in that same church, working with adult and kids’ choirs, a praise team/band, and specialty ensembles, until April of 2007, when God moved her husband’s job to Fredericksburg, Virginia and their family relocated to Bowling Green.

Between 2007 and 2013 Careen stayed busy, homeschooling her three children all the way through high school, working part-time teaching and directing for CYT Fredericksburg, and being involved in the music and AWANA ministries at Salem Baptist. In 2013 she accepted the position of Music Director, and has been working to train and equip musicians to grow and develop their God-given talents, and then use those talents to help lead the people of Salem in worship and service.
